Course Overview

This course is targeted to child welfare professionals and other advocates who must complete Home Visit Risk Assessments as part of their child advocacy job description. Written in the voice of a young client, this on-line learning session identifies and describes four Home Visit Steps for Case Managers; as well as the “do’s” of making connections and observations in order to complete risk assessments to ensure child safety.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, learners will:

• Understand Four Home Visit Steps.
• Describe how to connect in positive ways with clients.
• Understand Case Manager Home Visit responsibilities when assessing risk.
• Identify what to observe and assess during a Home Visit Assessment in order to complete a Risk Assessment.
• Understand and record Home Visits through appropriate documentation.
• Understand the importance of follow up after completing a Home Visit.
