Course Overview

This course is targeted to human service professionals who need to understand work site as well as ‘in the field’ personal safety precautions. It discusses how to protect oneself through recognition and practice of ‘on the job’ safety strategies.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, learners will:

• Understand the four types of Workplace Violence
• Know the signs exhibited by someone that may become potentially violent.
• Understand basic precautionary steps to take at the office or before leaving the office to work ‘in the field’.
• Understand some of the potential risks in working outside of the office.
• Understand how to avoid conflict with an angry and hostile client.
• Understand how to protect oneself while working in the field.
• Understand other potential ‘in the field’ safety challenges and precautions.
