Course Overview
This course is targeted to human service professionals who include dependency case managers, social workers, teachers, law enforcement, mental health and court workers, volunteers, counselors, juvenile justice and addiction professionals. It explores the relationship between ethics, laws, values, and personal beliefs. It will look at some common issues around human service activities. Finally it will propose ways to both prevent and resolve ethical dilemmas.
Course Objectives
After completion of this course, the learner will:
Understand the importance of professional values and ethics in human service practice.Recognize and distinguish between problematic and non-problematic human service issues.Describe ways individuals can prevent unethical or ethical behaviors in daily practice.Understand ethical decision-making.
